YOUTH BULGE AND UNEMPLOYMENT<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

When you have a degree, you have high hopes for a decent job. This is not the reality of many Nigerian youths as 1 out of 3 Nigerian graduates are unemployed.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

According to a report from the National Bureau of Statistics, 33.3% of Nigerians that are able to work are out of jobs. In a country with a youth bulge, high rate of unemployment may be a trigger for social unrest and other vices.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

What are the practical situations out of this issue? Is the government doing enough to salvage this ?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Nigeria does not have enough primary school places for the estimated 7 million children currently born per year (according to UNICEF estimates).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

An estimated 72% of\u00a0 children who finish primary education in Nigeria do not go on to secondary school .<\/p>

For those who are able to get an education, the quality received has been argued to not be fit for purpose.\u00a0According to the 2018 Human Capital Index of the World Bank, 8.2 years of schooling in Nigeria equates to just 4.2 years of learning, when adjusted for quality of learning.\u00a0<\/p>

It is clear that the problems and challenges of the nation are understood. If this is the case why\u00a0 are we not seeing a radical overhaul that can lead to radical and significant changes?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
